In less than one hour, the Swiss start-up United City Bikes collected more than $100,000 for The ONE : The World’s Lightest Folding Ebike. Today, the campaign is at a stunning 1436% of its goal. The campaign has become one of the fastest-funded campaigns ever on the crowdfunding platform Indiegogo.

Low weight
At a weight of only 12.5 kg (28 pounds) and foldable in only 10 seconds, The ONE is a fast, flexible and efficient way to get around cities. As the first bike ever made of magnesium alloy, it comes with a functional smart design and a minimal look.
The ONE will be available for pre-orders on the crowdfunding platform Indiegogo until the end of May and will be delivered to the first backers during the summer. A community of more than 12,000 people worldwide had subscribed to be notified about the launch.

Fold it up in 10 seconds
Foldable in less than 10 seconds into a compact size of 25 cm thick among many of its attractive features, the ONE was created to meet the demands of the ever-transforming micro mobility lifestyle trends. Made of magnesium alloy, the frame incorporates the leading technology with a folding thickness of only 25 cm – another feat in the market (dimensions: 25 x 64 x 76.5 cm).
Its compact size is made possible with a patented magnetic system which makes the two wheels stick tightly and firmly together. The light weight and the compact size make it the perfect folding ebike to carry around in any situation.
Traveling further and faster: A commuter and cyclist’s dream come true
The ONE is an ebike for commuters and cyclists of all fitness levels. The bike has a tailor-made high-speed brushless motor with high energy conversion efficiency of 95%. Take it out for a ride of up to 60 km (37.28 miles) with one charge.
Long rides on folding bikes don’t have to be uncomfortable anymore. The patented saddle design gives extra comfort for riders in a sitting position. The bike’s EU version has a maximum speed of 25 km/h (16 mph) with electrically assisted mode only. The US version has a maximum speed of 32 km/h (21.7 mph) on a pure electric mode with a thumb throttle.
In order to provide the power to stop the rider faster, disk brakes have also been incorporated for the riders’ safety.
A functional smart design with a minimal look
The minimal look is made possible by the gear drive system and the battery integrated into its body and the seat post respectively. The top-quality patented framework of the bike gives the bike a unique sleek look as well as a tough body with a maximum load of 100 kg (220.46 lbs). All the wires have been neatly tucked away inside the framework making this ebike also water and weather resistant. The patented convenient built-in bracing foot system keeps the bike standing on its own.

My electric folder from London Drugs (!) is similar and only cost $850Cdn. It weighs 35lbs and has a 350W motor. After 500kms around Nanaimo it has been sold, as good as any of my Dahon;s. I expect 75-100km range.

Price varies frequently from $850 to $1100. ‘Support’ is from a phone number in NYC. Currently I am trying to find out where to get brake pads in case they are not standard. But I am very happy with it after 500kms. It is my fifth folding bike so I am very used to the geometry.
